Correct. Never. No glyphosate. Every plant comes out of the ground by hand, with hori-hori, gloves, and patience.
We work around perennials, native plants, and vinca beds without disturbing them. Stone walls are the one exception: if roots have grown into the wall itself, we may need to carefully take part of it apart to pull the root out completely, then put it back. Herbicide drift damages everything; precise hand work doesn't.
Everything gets bagged on site, sealed, and hauled away in our truck. We dispose of it in a landfill so urushiol doesn't end up in your compost or anyone else's.
It depends on a few things: whether the plant is growing in sun or shade, whether it's old or young, and whether it's ever been sprayed with herbicide before. Most residential jobs fall between $1,000 and $5,000. We generally provide a firm written quote within several days after your site inspection with no obligation.
Most properties run a half-day to two days. Long-neglected properties with extensive infestations or mature vines running up trees can take longer. We give you a time estimate together with the quote so there are no surprises.
Any time, as long as the ground isn't frozen. We remove poison ivy every year before the leaves unfurl in spring and after they fall in autumn. We know what the roots and stems look like, so working without leaves is no problem. We work in dry weather to avoid spreading the oil through wet foliage.
For very small jobs we can discuss a round number price over the phone. But almost every job begins with a paid site inspection. If you move forward with us, the cost of the site inspection will be applied to the service fee.
Yes. Urushiol stays active on bare vines, dead leaves, and dropped branches for months, and even years on dry surfaces. That's why we wear full PPE no matter the season, and why burning ivy debris is the single most dangerous mistake homeowners make.

A thorough hand-pull of the root usually finishes the plant. We can schedule a regrowth check the following season to pull any stragglers from missed root fragments or new seed germination.
